Sharpening and Tuning Hand Tools.
1 Day Course – £175
Struggling to consistently achieve a sharp edge on your tools, or new to the craft and overwhelmed by the numerous products and gadgets on offer ?
This course will help you learn and improve your sharpening technique and to decide what equipment you really need based on your objectives, then tune and set your planes to achieve optimum results.
During this one day course you will learn :
- The importance of maintaining good edges on your cutting tools. “a blunt tool is a dangerous tool”
- The safe use of grinding wheels.
- The Pros/Cons of a variety of honing mediums, including oil stones, diamond stones, japanese water stones, ceramic stones and abrasive films.
- The use of stones to produce a razor edge.
- How to improve the performance of your hand plane by truing, fettling and optimising settings.
We encourage you to bring your own tools along to work on, although we can provide tools for your use.
This course costs £175 individual, or £160 each if two are attending, tea and coffee is provided free of charge.
