Introduction to Furniture Making.
1 or 2 Day Course – from £160
Want to try a new craft and learn new skills? Would you like to create something beautiful with your own hands?
This course will introduce you to a range of hand tools, power tools and machines, whilst making a lovely ‘Cracket’ footstool (ideal for the kitchen).
If attending for two days the first day will consist of :
- An overview of timber types and selection from a choice of species.
- An introduction to cutting lists and technical drawings.
- Using woodworking machines to convert sawn timber into planed stock.
- An introduction to panel jointing techniques.
- Use of hand tools to create shaped components.
The second day or 1 day course will consist of :
- Marking out techniques.
- Use of hand and power tools to produce accurate holes.
- Use of a router to create joints.
- Use of hand and power tools to produce a variety of angled cuts.
- Use of hand and power tools to produce mouldings.
- Gluing up techniques.
- Use of hand and power tools to prepare surfaces.
- Use of hand finishing techniques to complete your Cracket!
This course costs £175 individual for 1 day course, or £320 for the 2 day course.
If two are attending, the cost will be £160 each for one day and £300 each for 2 days. Prices include all materials, plus tea and coffee is provided free of charge.
