Safe Use of Power Tools and Machines.

Do you have power tools you don’t know how to use to their full potential? Are you beginning this craft and would like a grounding in the multitude of power tools and machines available?
These courses will help you learn about the equipment available, their uses and how to set up and use the equipment safely.
You can choose from the following courses :
- Introduction to power tools. 1 day.
- Intensive power tools course. 2 days.
- Introduction to wood machines. 1 day.
- Introduction to routers. 1 day.
- Exploring advanced functions of routers. 1 day.
During this one day course you will be introduced to a number of commonly used power tools in the woodworking industry. This will include:
- An overview of the wide variety of power tools available.
- An introduction to the safe use and settings of a cordless drill, SDS drill, Jigsaw, Mitre saw, Circular saw, Router, Belt sander, Random Orbital sander and Dust extractor.
- An overview of the wide variety of power tools available.
- An introduction to the safe use and settings of a corded, cordless and angle drills, SDS drill, Jigsaw, Mitre saw, Circular saw, Plunge saw, Multi tools, Biscuit Jointer, Router 1/4 and 1/2 inch, Belt sander, Orbital sander, Random Orbital sander and Dust extractor.
- An overview of working with jigs and templates.
- Tool and cutter/blade maintenance.
- An overview of the wide variety of wood machines available.
- An introduction to the safe use and settings of a Circular saw (table), Planer/Thicknesser, Pillar drill, Chisel Morticer, Scroll saw, Belt/Disc sander, Oscillating Bobbin sander, Lathe and Dust extraction.
- Machine and cutter/blade maintenance.
During this one day course you will be introduced to the most versatile of power tools, the Router. This will include:
- An overview of the wide variety of router accessories available.
- Correct fitting of router cutters.
- Techniques for calibrating zero point on routers.
- An introduction to the safe use and settings of a Router.
- Use of bearing guided cutters.
- Use of fence for parallel work.
- Tool and cutter maintenance.
This course is designed to extend learning after completing the introduction to routers course. During this one day course you will enhance your familiarity and confidence in the use of routers. This will include:
- A revision of prior learning, cutter fitting, calibrating zero point and setting fences.
- Use of trammel bars.
- Copy routing from templates.
- Use of guide bushes.
- Use of housing jigs.
- Router jig design.
- Setting and use of Table routers.
- Cutter sharpening.
These courses cost £175 individual for a 1 day course, or £320 for 2 days. If two are attending, the cost will be £160 each for one day and £300 each for 2 days. Prices include all materials, plus tea and coffee is provided free of charge.
